I normally like to keep quiet when it comes to world news and politics. Though, my opinions are strong and my beliefs are even stronger. Like the old saying goes; “you can’t argue with stupid”. I silently try to help out with any disasters or charities that I can. Most of the time this entails donating money, but anything anyone can do can help.
Though this is my lifestyle blog that I like to write about health, fitness, cosmetics, finances, etc., this is one issue that I cannot keep quiet about anymore. It’s about Harold Camping. This man claims he is a Christian and that he has read and studied the Bible diligently. This in itself is a big contradiction because of what the Bible CLEARLY states in the book of Matthew. He predicted the “Rapture” and “Judgment Day” previously in 1994. Obviously, he was wrong. Now he is back and has caused a media uproar because of his predication of Judgment Day this past Saturday, May 21st, 2011. It has been a top trending story on Twitter, top search in Google and Yahoo, and I don’t know about you, but my Facebook was filled with opinions and mockeries of Harold Camping’s prediction all week and weekend. I think it is safe to say we are all here, and that once again, his imprudent prediction was incorrect. Continuing on with his dishonorable legacy, he is now stating that the Judgment Day did in fact happen… it was just invisible. He has admitted to his miscalculations and now conveys the world will finally come to an end October, 21st, 2011.
I can see the humor in all of this. It is so wacky and unbelievable that is hard not to laugh. However, there comes a point where this isn’t funny anymore. He is making a joke and a mockery out of the Christian belief, which I personally find offensive. To compliment this offensiveness, there are people out there who truly believed him. Those people left their jobs, dropped out of school, gave up their entire life and everything they have worked for because of this senseless idea. A woman in the western part of the US was arrested for attempting to murder her children then herself because she was so terrified of the “Rapture” happening. So now Harold Camping is continuing his reign of idiocracy on into October of this year. Is that what will continue to happen? Will Harold Camping and his ignorant theories remain in the spotlight while stories of utter importance and value go disregarded?
I get so angry and passionate about this because it infuriates and breaks my heart. People of Joplin MO, just this past Sunday, lost everything. No home, no car, no job, no money – everything they have worked their entire life for. These people are in dire need of anyone’s helps. Those type of stories NEED the media attention and awareness. People of Japan are still suffering, as well as people in Alabama and all across the US. These are our fellow Americans and others in the world. Can you imagine if you did not have a place to call home or did not know when your next meal was coming? Do not think it could not happen to you, because in the blink of an eye, it could. I sincerely hope the media stops feeding into this lunatic’s thoughts.
Because while he is predicting that the world will end, here is what is actually going on it:
Joplin, MO:
Japan:
Alabama:
I hope those my friends and reader's will please share and help bring awareness and help anyway you can. I will be compiling a list of contacts for ways you can help and will update this blog post once it is finished.
